Corporate Volunteering
As a local charity, Growing People are proud of the network of relationships we have established within our local community. We regularly provide facilities and support for visiting groups of volunteers from local companies and schools.
Examples of recent group volunteering includes:
- Phoenix Group
A team from the Phoenix Group showed their commitment to supporting the community when they braved the cold and the rain to help Growing People with some vital maintenance jobs in the therapy garden which was greatly appreciated.
Why volunteer at Growing People with your group?
It's crucial to the work of both Growing People, and the Sadie Centre as a whole, that our horticultural therapy gardens, and extensive grounds surrounding them, are well kept and maintained.
Our gardeners (service users) all live with mental health challenges, and it is very important to ensure that their therapeutic gardening sessions happen in an environment which is relaxing and well-maintained.
Corporate and other groups play a big part in maintaining and developing our grounds and gardens by undertaking a range of gardening tasks.
What activities are available?
Corporate and other groups have helped to: plant up borders, dig over weedy plots, clear scrub, prune trees, turn compost, mend fences, prepare new ground for planting... and plenty of other fun and worthwhile activities.
Your group doesnt need to be gardening experts, the volunteering sessions are supported by our staff, who can show you what to do, and how to do it safely.
We provide all the tools and equipment and equipment (not to mention tea and coffee!).
Groups can join us for a full or half-day sessions, we are happy to discuss what would be the most suitable time-frame and activity(ies) for your group (see contact details below).
What are the benefits for corporate and other groups?
This is an opportunity for companies looking to fulfil charitable and/or team building objectives, in a way that will be inspiring and satisfying to all involved.
Your organisation can make a huge difference to Growing People and the people we support. In addition for helping a valuable cause, your group will enjoy learning something new together, developing team building skills, increasing group motivation, connecting to the community, and having fun at our beautiful orchard garden.
We'll also be sure to give you a shout-out and a thank you on social media.
